I have buyed an freecom cdrw and an freecom portable cdrw.
The CDRW is a FREECOM PORTABLE CDRW (FC-RW-2224EU / 13504).
The CABLE is a FREECOM PARALLEL PORT CABLE (FC-Cable-PAR / 12544).
The CDRW-drive in the FREECOM CDRW is an Philips CDD3801.

At first an short direction what i have done:

Now i want to use the cdrw with linux.

On (www.torque.net/parport) i have found an direction.
In this direction stand, that i must load the modules paride, friq and pcd to
use the cdrw as an normal cd-drive.

    #modprobe paride
    #modprobe friq
    #modprobe pcd

The module pcd found an CDRW on my parport.

pcd: pcd version 1.07, major 46, nice 0
    pcd0: Sharing parport0 at 0x378
    pcd0: friq 1.01, Freecom IQ ASCI-2 adapter at 0x378, mode 4 (EPP-32), delay
    1
    pcd0: Master R/RW 2x2x24

    But i couldn't mount this cd-drive.
When i make this i always get a lot of error messages.

    pcd0: WARNING: ATAPI phase errors

I have tested the CDRW with different PC's and different versions of linux,
but i always get the same error messages.

    Now the new informations:

At next i have looked at the Internet. I have found the following message in
the archieve of this mailing list
    ("http://www.torque.net/parport/archive/hist/1045.html"). The person in this
message have the same problem like i.
Also I have found on the net the following file
    ("http://lists.insecure.org/linux-kernel/2000/Nov/att-1700/02-kernlog_pcd_scsi")
This file is a description of my problem (but not writen from my).
I fount this file on an archieve of the linux kernel mailing list of the
    november of 2000.

I think that some person have the same problem like i.
Doas somebody knows an answear for this problem?

Do you know something more about the paride driver or do you know the person
    how developt this driver?
At llast dou you know if somebody make some new versions of the driver

I hope you can help me and pleas write back.

    MFG
    Stefan Riha
